Dear Student’s / Parent’s / Guardian’s,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 5th grade Science class for the 2017-2018 school year. I am excited about the subject I teach and want to share my knowledge with you. I am positive that we will all learn a great deal this school year and have a good time as well. Success in 5th grade Science will come by keeping an open and inquisitive mind and a positive attitude! When we all work together as a team, we can have a great time exploring the wonders of the world we live on!
Fifth and Sixth Grade Science Curriculum Focus:
Food and Nutrition, Environments, Mixtures and Solutions, Landforms, Solar Energy Variables, Levers and Pulleys, Models and Designs, Force and Motion
Throughout the year we will be using the FOSS Program. FOSS is a research-based science curriculum for grades K–8 developed at the Lawrence Hall of Science, University of California at Berkeley. FOSS is also an ongoing research project dedicated to improving the learning and teaching of science.
